I am basically a non foodie, foodie if that makes sense, I have lived here for a very long time and I reckon I have eaten in close to 1,300 Chinese Restaurants over the years and I have a very simple philosophy when it comes to food - ie I simply cannot and will not give an opinion on food unless I have actually tried it.
This simply means I have pretty much tried ever type (dish) of Chinese food out there and honestly a lot of it simply does not appeal to me one bit.
Chicken feet are not high on my list of food items to consume every week, no meat, no taste, nasty to look at and who gives a rats bottom that they supposedly have health benefits, a fine steak meal in Mortons Steak House in the Sheraton Hotel is everything a bowl of chicken feet isn't and that boys and girls is that.
... and yes, now you know why I do not do food tours, I simply could not consume food I dislike on a daily basis and yes, there are many local dishes that are wonderful but nice boring food is not what people want to try on a food tour, they want to eat something out of their comfort zone - Anthony Bourdain has a lot to answer for.

Egg Waffles, my favourite Hong Kong Street food of all time / Favourite image no. 2
Oh my..... all of my friends that do Private Tours in Hong Kong and Group or Private Food Tours in Hong Kong always argue about who makes the best egg waffles, another street food staple and it is a lovely argument because this is one of my favourite foods of all time.
Personally the old geezer in the picture makes the best on the planet, I haven't seen him for a while but boy did (does?) he know how to make waffles.
Priced at HK$18 (US2.30) per serving it was simply amazing and I have NEVER found a better egg waffle in Hong Kong, did I mention he was serving up this wonderous creation in Tai O at the very West of Hong Kong basically 2 hours away from downtown.
These days a lot of people rave about Mammy Pancake (mainly because it is in the Hong Kong Michelin Food Guide) whose shop is located at the Temple Street Night Market, you will see lines there all night they are perfectly fine and reasonably priced but they are simply not a patch on the ones made by the Tai O Geezer.

There are times when I get very animated when I come across a photo opportunity and this was one of those moments.
The Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Central, Hong Kong has a thoroughly well deserved reputation for making amazing chocolate creations such as this Andy Warhol rendition. - made entirely of chocolate it was amazingly life like (from a kid in a candy shop perspective) and accurate....
I make a point of stopping at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel as much as possible on one of my Private Tours of Hong Kong as their awesome, marble bathrooms are located on the same floor as the cafe that has all the chocolate creations..... and did I mention that you have to walk past a jewellery shop just before you get to the cafe which has some of the most gorgeous jewels on display that you have ever laid your eyes on.
Yahoo for the chocolateers at the Mandarin.
Oh my golly gosh, the simply amazing Pagani Zonda Absolute - this is a custom made car and is rumoured to be the only one of it's kind in the world and it is in Hong Kong!... oh... and yes, this is my picture, talk about being in the right place at the right time.
